When cells are combined in series (from positive to negative and
from negative to positive) the voltages of the cells add up. When
cells are combined in parallel (from positive to positive and from
negative to negative) the amp hours of the cells add up. Some custom
battery packs might have some of the cells in series and some in
parallel so that both the voltage and amp hour capacity are increased.
