and Vinnic.
Nickel cadmium batteries have good high rate characteristics,
good low-temperature capability, flat voltage, and excellent
cycle life. There is a larger selection of cylindrical and button
sizes for this cell type than of any other chemistry. Nickel
cadmium cells are 1.2 volts (nominal) and range between 11 to
20,000 mAh in capacity. The energy density by weight is 40-60
Wh/kg. These cells self discharge at a 20% per month rate. They
are good for 500-5,000 cycles and have an operational temperature
range of from -40 degrees C to +60 degrees C.
Common applications for the nickel cadmium
batteries are aircraft batteries, industrial and emergency
power applications, communication equipment, portable tools,
photographic equipment, and memory backup.
