Silver oxide batteries are noted for their high energy density,
high discharge rate capability, good charge retention, and
flat discharge voltage curve. They come in button cell configurations.
Silver oxide cells are 1.6 volts (nominal) and range between
14 to 180 mAh in capacity. The recommended discharge drain
is from 620 to 39 ohms. The energy density by weight is 130
Wh/kg and by volume is 500 Wh/litre. There is a loss of 16%
of capacity after 2 years of storage at 21 degrees C. The
operational temperature range is from -20 degrees C to +60
degrees C.
Common applications for the silver oxide batteries are
lightweight medical and electronic equipment, and space
applications.
